Paloma Dineli Chesky brings it home with Soul on Soul
It’s not often you hear a voice that’s so pure from someone so young, but Paloma Dineli Desky belts out a string of classic songs on her album Soul on Soul.
The opening track – Something’s Got a Hold on Me – sets the tone for what are pristine performances from Paloma and the musicians. Beautifully recorded and mastered, each of the album’s 11 tracks are a joy to the ears.
The album, a follow-up to Thirteen, features a string of eclectic songs including War, I Heard it Through the Grapevine, It’s a Man’s World, and House of the Rising Sun – all delivered in Paloma’s bluesy-soulful style that’s become the teenager’s iconic and unmistakable sound.
New York based Paloma has been a guest artist at Jazz at Lincoln Center for three years and had two solo shows in New York City at the Zinc Jazz, and the Triad Theater.
The entertainment industry can be brutal, so let’s hope Paloma keeps her feet on the ground and grows to build on her well-deserved success into adulthood. Because a voice this good is too good to lose.
