AI-generated music tracks are now landing in my inbox, just as Sony takes action against Spotify to get 135,000 deep-fake songs removed from its system.
Given this, I couldn’t help myself from commenting on the risks of playing AI music on my weekly radio show. The challenge to support bona fide musicians is real as tools to create authentic sounding music puts pressure on those of us trying to avoid it at all costs.
And having shared my concerns with a few radio station managers, I hear plenty of presenters think nothing of featuring AI music in their shows. For these DJs the sound of the music trumps living, breathing, artists who have worked to master their instrument and done the hard yards to cut a record deal or invested in themselves to record and self-publish.
